Dharan Big Band!

When  I landed in the desert for my seventh overseas position, I never dreamed I would be playing music again. I hadn't picked up a sax or clarinet in over 30 years. Imagine that!

Somehow, I found my way into the sunday night community jazz band called the Dharan Big Band. Next to me was Izzy, a professional clarinet teacher. On the other side was Fröde, a second generation saxophone prodigy!  Imagine my embarrassment! Imagine the pressure I put on myself. I have practiced more in the past nine years than I have in the previous four decades of my life.

This video was recorded for our first desert concert!

More Instruments

Living in the desert can be both boring and rewarding. I am a "born again" musician. Thanks to Paul Solderbaum, I am an instrument "junkie" and collector.

Being a minimalist, the last thing I need is yet another musical instrument to practice. Maybe I'll stop here. Below are the instruments I have acquired while in the desert.

Music!

Electric Wind Instrument?  Basically, it is a synthesizer (like an 88 key Roland Synthesizer) with the fingerings of a Sax, Clarinet, or trumpet. Yes, trumpet. I use the Sax fingering settings.
